Weather Opportunity System

This is a school assignment where we were commissioned to design an app for Craft Sportswear.

The starting point was to create a product based on the Swedish saying “there is no bad weather, just bad clothes”. The task was also to think of CRAFT, an established brand in sportswear industry as a client.

We created «WOS»
Short for «Weather Opportunity System»

An app that will help you choose the right training clothes for the right weather, it will help you choose the right clothes for your workout based on prevailing weather. We chose to use an avatar that presents your clothes. The avatar is personally tailored to your own set measurements, and generates a set clothing for you based on your wardrobe adapted to today’s weather.

You fill the wardrobe yourself by scanning your clothes via a tag on the inside of the garment, or by manually entering the article number for the garment. You can also buy new clothes directly in the app via the brand new web shop, which then automatically ends up in your wardrobe.

To market the «WOS»-app we created a video for social media. All material is taken from already existing material from CRAFT to help the app connect better to the original branding and style of the company.

You can also use the app to keep track of your training. You can start your training from the avatar side after you have chosen the type of training you are going to perform. For example, if you are going out and running, you can use the app to see where you are, how far you have run, what pace you are keeping, and so on. After completing the session, you will receive a summary of your training session and then you will be able to rate your outfit based on how warm, windproof and water-resistant it was experienced.

You can make a simpler rating of your entire outfit in general or, more recommended, rate each garment separately. This is so that the app can get to know you and your training and based on that be able to generate a better proposal for a training outfit at the next training opportunity.

This is a school project where the task was to produce a digital product for two platforms for one of two preselected companies. I choose Haglöfs, a Swedish company which sells clothes and equipment for outdoor life.

A while back I heard one of my teachers say that virtual reality never really broke through and that it was a pity that it never really got a proper foothold, despite its enormous potential. So therefore I wanted to see what would happen if I tried to combine Haglöf, an outdoor company and VR.

The result was « Experience By Haglöf ».

A fictional app with an associated VR headset for your mobile phone. Haglöf wants more people to go out and experience the wonders of nature. The app is aimed partly at the people who never get enough of their outdoor life but also at those who may never have the time or opportunity to get out.

«Experience By Haglöf» gives the user the opportunity to experience different adventures and experiences of nature from the comfort of their home.

During the pandemic, many have been forced to stay indoors, even people who actually might otherwise have gone out into nature, This app also solves that problem.

With selected experienced outdoor experts sent out by the Haglöf team, people are also given the opportunity to accompany them on various expeditions live in full 360 degree VR when they explore the most fantastic places on earth.

In summary, «Experience By Haglöf» is a rather interesting solution that hopefully will awaken a new interest of the outdoor life and nature for a completely new audience,
when Haglöf meets VR.
